Free yourself and live in your own Personal Power

You have the power to make this extremely easy or extremely difficult on yourself, depending on whether your goal is to lessen stress and anxiety or to regain control of your life.
Living a confident, genuine, and empowered life means being in alignment with your personal power. However, few women in today’s world are even aware of their power, much less know how to use it.

” I am no bird and no net ensnares me

i am a free human being with an independent will.”
Charlotte Bronte

Your Journey to Reach your Personal Power

Years that are difficult, rewarding, and overwhelming can teach us a lot of valuable lessons.
I am all too aware of how the internal “mean girl” voice can ruin our lives and render us mentally powerless but each woman is capable of setting herself free.

learn the power of practicing kindness and compassion to your body. However, the most recent and challenging phases of your life are meant to be lived fully and empower you as a women.

a female business owner. a female in a committed partnership. a best friend, sister, and daughter. But there is also a woman who is attempting to love both herself and her life.

But what does personal power entail?
in my view, perfect definition that grabbed my attention by a psychologist called Robert W. Firestone, Ph.D*

“Personal power is based on strength, confidence, and competence that individuals gradually acquire in the course of their development. It is self-assertion, and a natural, healthy striving for love, satisfaction and meaning in one’s interpersonal world. This type of power represents a movement toward self-realization and transcendent goals in life; its primary aim is mastery of self, not others. Personal power is more an attitude or state of mind than an attempt to manoeuvre or control others. It is based on competence, vision, positive personal qualities, and service…”

YOU CAN CREATE A LIFE YOU LOVE, AS WELL AS A BUSINESS, JOB, RELATIONSHIP, AND HOME FULL OF PURPOSE, FULFILMENT, AND JOY, BY USING YOUR PERSONAL POWER.
Your barometer into “This is my life and I rule it.”

Your sense of self-worth was formed as you grew up, and sadly, the majority of women experience low self-esteem all too frequently. Low self-esteem for women is so harmful because it makes you lose touch with your own power.

You lose sight of how amazing and sparkling you really are when you’re cut off from your personal power. Your special abilities, skills, and beauty are obscured by fear, a lack of self-awareness, a lack of purpose, or all three.

Your thoughts become consumed by your inner mean girl, and before you know it, you are ceding control.

Women today not only don’t know what their power is or how to use it, but they also frequently get in their own way of learning how to take the first step in that direction.

To live in your power means that you do not apologise for who you are or what you want – you are unapologetically you.

To live in your power is to live an authentic life full of purpose, meaning and love – it is to be the best human you can!

A women take away her personal power in certain ways:

A desire to be well-liked by everyone.

Feeling the need to do “XYZ” in order to satisfy someone else’s needs or fulfil their expectations.

Failing to appreciate yourself – You are doomed to failure the moment you start comparing yourself to other women in any way, shape, or form. The first step to regaining control over your body is to acknowledge your inherent worth, natural beauty, and special talents while letting go of the media’s unrealistic definition of beauty.

being reactive not proactive, the most effective route to achieving our goals is a strategic one. Our ambition and success are fueled when we establish a plan to achieve the end result while keeping the end in mind. A reactive mode lacks the conviction and promise that a proactive mode possesses. When we rely on luck or chance, we surrender control. We are easily distracted and feel like we have no control over our professional future.

The first step toward living in your own power is to start empowering beliefs about your body, mind. Too many women believe that in order to be happy, they must change completely, but this is untrue. You can alter how you view your life by living in your power—your assured, genuine, and strong self. You’ll begin to believe that you are valuable, capable and enough.

Abilities required to maintain your own personal power

It is frequently necessary to acquire new skills in order to embrace and uphold a position of personal power. These consist of:

Defining limits and setting boundaries. Increase

Understanding how to state needs and wants.

Being in touch with your emotions.

Ability to maintain present-focused attention.

The capacity to set goals.

Taking charge.

Strengthening your intuition.

Forming the mentality of positivity.

It takes time and effort to cultivate and express your personal power. There is no easy way to accomplish it. However, if you are willing to go through the process, I promise that you will experience prosperity in many areas of your life as a result of doing so.

Here are some suggestions for you to begin the process of embracing your personal power.

1. Make a list of the ways which you cause giving away your personal power. Start with specific incidents or situations related to the question and ask yourself how you might have handled the situation differently.

2. Pay attention to your inner voice. LIstening to your inner voice whether it is loud and clear or more of a whisper can be a great source to guide you when you need it the most. You can think of your inner voice as your highest self.

3. Be kind to yourself. Be patient with yourself and kind to yourself. You’ll find that you’re happier, more productive, and more in control if you work on quieting those negative thoughts in your head.

4. Set yourself goals. You can begin modestly, but make some aspirational goals for yourself. This will give you direction and instruct you on how to cultivate and express your personal power so that you can accomplish your goals. Additionally, every time you accomplish a new goal, it will greatly boost your sense of accomplishment.

5. Trust yourself. it’s another tricky one, but trusting your own abilities will give you a huge boost of confidence that you didn’t know it exists! You are capable, embrace this and you will discover your inner strength!

Women who are self-assured own the fact that we are, in fact, women first. From there, we make decisions, trust, influence and lead others, By exercising our power in that way, we encourage other women to do the same, and always remember to uplift one another. Celebrate your own accomplishments and those of other women. Everyone benefits when women help each others, and remember to quit trying to please everyone. You are better off just doing what works best for you in your own life despite the doubts of what others may think.

If you want to get married, you can do so, and you can also get divorced. Make decisions based on your own values, not those of other people. Have no children if you don’t want to, or have 20 it is entirely up to you, never feel obligation to justify it.
Become a stay-at-home mom, or take care of your parents. Focus or your career or leave in the middle of it or after receiving the amazing promotion.

You have a choice to give your authority away whenever and to whomever you want. Your choices are yours only, based on our comfort, preferences and values. They define you and your life not anyone else’s so, be innovative, make mistakes and fail then learn from it, but remember to always keep moving forward.

Power of a girl means the idea that women and girls should be. confident, make decisions, and achieve things independently from men.

Women and Girl power starts from admitting the fact that we are truly women first. We begin from there; we make the decision, trust others, influence others and lead from there. Upon doing that, we inspire other women to embrace, encourage and celebrate women’s empowerment, independence, confidence, and strength. This is how you will develop and own your power and take fully control of your life.

Let’s begin with the Aspirational role model who empowered women all these years

This is just a small example. More example Click Here!

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, TED Talk x Euston; We should all be feminists, 2013

‘We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller, we say to girls, “You can have ambition, but not too much. You should aim to be successful, but not too successful, otherwise, you would threaten the man.” …But what if we question the premise itself? Why should a woman’s success be a threat to a man?

‘I want to be respected in all my femaleness because I deserve to be.”
– Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, TED Talk x Euston; We should all be feminists, 2013

This speech has all my attention, and I can't ever feel more agreed.

When I heard the author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie speaking on TEDxEuston, I was touched. I was impressed because I am a woman, I am a girl, and I am an individual who is told to do well with housework, keeping silent, making yourself small, and being smart but need to act naive about all these sorts of things that lead to one goal which to find a good husband. Her message implies that women nowadays have every right to own their life and develop power. Women can be successful and ambitious like every man does, and women can have different roles and abilities that make them more powerful and influential. She reminded us that women with confidence and courage would inspire other women and strengthen their dreams. Not to mention her definition of feminism is so respectful for both genders.

Quotes on Women Power and Empowering other women

Powerful and emotional speech in South Africa, Megan Markle, 2019

Another speech that shows how women can empower one another is Megan Markle’s speech in front of hundreds of girls in South Africa. Her emotional and aspirational speech reflected with me (specifically, with the young girls who were listening in person.) I can tell that from that moment, she inspired them to think higher, to be better, to never give up, to hope more and to accomplish more. The message that Megan has passed to the girls will give them value in life today and in the future. I still remember the day that one word from my very close friend let my inner out and changed my life forever.

So, let’s honor women’s empowerment! Let’s acknowledge the bravery and assurance that women exhibit when they accept their own power.

Regardless of being criticized or judged and even with societal pressure or gender inequality, women confidently embrace their power by making professional and personal decisions and refusing to allow society to guilt them into apologies for making those decisions.

Why is empowering girls and women so important?

The wellbeing, social and economic prosperity of families, communities, and nations depend on the empowerment of women.
Women can reach their full potential when they are living safe, secure, fulfilled, and productive lives resulting in the advancement of the workforce contributed by women's skills and a happy family environment that benefits children to be healthier. Empowering women also benefits society and helps fuel the economy and humanity on a large scale.
An essential part of this empowerment is education. Educated girls are less likely to get married at a young age due to eight-year education and contribute to a meaningful life patch pursue goals and careers which help develop the country's economic advantages.

Endorse the Women’s empowerment principles

Establish the correlation between the UN Global Compact and UN Women. The Women’s empowerment guidelines are utilized to empower women and enable women to have greater equality in the work industry, marketplace, and community. Therefore, The seven principles are adapted from the Calvert Women’s Principles®. In additional, This practice is gathered from real-world business practices and suggestions to ensure gender equality of women in businesses, and other stakeholders will benefit from it.

The seven principles are:

Principle 1: Establish high-level corporate leadership for gender equality

Principle 2: Treat all women and men fairly at work – respect and support human rights and nondiscrimination

Principle 3: Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all women and men workers

Principle 4: Promote education, training, and professional development for women

Principle 5: Implement enterprise development, supply chain, and marketing practices that empower women

Principle 6: Promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy

Principle 7: Measure and publicly report on progress to achieve gender equality

The gap between sex-disaggregated should be close for the better. For example, their Twitter has the same cover image and display picture while LinkedIn doesn’t have a cover image at all. They must create an overall appearance with colors, images and layouts that match a certain theme that is more visually appealing. We also analyzed that SaGG’s tone of voice on all their channels is consistently motivating and uplifting; it encourages people to donate and educates the audience about issues in Gambia.

Based on extensive research on industry competitors and trends, recommendations can be provided to SaGG on how to increase their social media potential.

Stay up to date with trending topics: the social calendar is full of meaningful philanthropic events which can be posted about using hashtags to reach a wider audience. For example: Breast cancer awareness month, International Day of the Girl Child, Women Empowerment, etc.

Be more active: social media algorithms allow audiences to see posts from pages that are consistently posting powerful and creative content. Companies should post 3-7 times / week on Instagram, 1-2 times / day on Facebook, 1-5 times / day on Twitter and 1-5 a day on LinkedIn- companies need to experiment with their content and the key is to be consistent (McLachlan, 2022).

LinkedIn: This channel is mainly used by professionals, and therefore posting educational articles or reports would boost the content’s performance and educate potential donors to sponsor a Gambian girl child.

Interact with audience: it’s important to form a deeper connection with your audience through community management, stories, polls, Q&A’s, reshares and interactive posts. This results in consumers being more interested and earning more about SaGG and how to donate.

Humanize your Brand: create an aesthetic that personally appeals to the brand image, and post more content about the founders, what they are passionate about, behind the scenes and the mission of SaGG. Use the art of storytelling through captions, infographics and posts. This increases engagement and allows consumers to be more loyal to your foundation.

To enable them to express and reach their full potential, it promotes gender equality and a society where women’s education is granted and not up for discussion, assists in matching disadvantaged girls with sponsors that, with just £10 a month, can support their access to schooling, and strives for the implementation of more progressive policies for girls’ education [1].

However, nothing is ever enough when it comes to such a worthy cause. Therefore, the SaGG Foundation must keep track of its initiatives and collect data and insights about both its micro-environment and macro-environment. Here is where the so-called social media listening comes into play.

Social media listening, often referred to simply as social listening, is the process of tracking social media platforms for mentions and interactions relevant to a brand in order to analyse them, extract actionable insights, and build reports capable of supporting the development of a plan or strategy [3]. Thereby, for any organisation, this audit is of great value for assessing its social media assets and conversations, examining its competitors’ social media efforts, and investigating its target audiences [3].

To promote its cause, in addition to its corporate website, the SaGG Foundation relies on four social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. On all these platforms, it mainly employs visual content, such as images and short videos, usually complemented with hashtags and CTA like links to its website and blog in order to increase traffic and boost participation.

Its social media initiatives aim to provide potential sponsors with educational and informative content focused on women’s empowerment and girls’ education, encouraging them to visit its other digital properties to find out more information. Additionally, each platform has a more specific focus. For instance, Facebook, which gathers more followers, serves to create awareness and promote actions, such as donations, while Twitter and Instagram are primarily used to reach big audiences, especially by the use of relevant hashtags. Lastly, LinkedIn is leveraged to raise awareness among professionals and build thought leadership and reputation, benefiting from its networking opportunities that allow organisations to demonstrate their expertise and start valuable conversations within their industry’s community.

The SaGG Foundation regularly updates its profiles, posting around three times a week and with a higher frequency on special events such as Women’s International Day. Moreover, its content is well integrated and coherent across all its digital platforms. However, it lacks diversification as most of its posts are published on each social media page without any change. This repetitiveness could be the reason for its low engagement rates that, as can be observed in the underneath images, are below the average recorded by non-profit organisations on Facebook [4] and Instagram [5]. The foundation reaches above-average engagement rates only on Twitter [6] and LinkedIn [7], even though these outcomes have little relevance when considering the small number of followers that the two platforms gather.

The need for the SaGG Foundation to enhance its social media efforts is even more noticeable when taking into account some of its competitors, that is, other non-profit organisations that fight for women’s rights and women’s empowerment. For instance, as can be noticed in the underneath images, CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) records an above-average engagement rate on Facebook, similarly to AWDF (African Women’s Development Fund) on LinkedIn. These better results are certainly due to the greater reach that the two institutions have, but above all to their choice to provide content diversification across all the different digital platforms on which they are active.

On the other hand, when compared to Together Women Rise and Leading Ladies Africa, the SaGG Foundation scores better in terms of engagement rate on Twitter and Instagram, respectively. These poor results obtained by the two competitors may be due to the lack of diversification in content publication and the lack of interaction with users, as the administrators of their profiles generally reply only to activists’ and partners’ comments. Nevertheless, the lower performance achieved by these two non-profit organisations is offset by their higher reach and update frequency, as stressed in the underneath images.

Moreover, many searches point out users’ intention to learn about inspirational people that fought or are fighting for women’s right to education and their potential interest in supporting the cause through sponsoring.

Based on the collected data, the main suggestion for the SaGG Foundation is to pursue content diversification across its social media platforms, as each one of these is populated by different types of users with specific needs, preferences, and behaviours. In other words, the charity should keep focusing on its worthy cause with a more strategic approach to each platform to provide its potential donors with what they need according to where they are.

On Facebook, where people are more inclined to read [9], the organisation should concentrate on raising awareness and inspiring actions through posts with longer captions that explain why women’s education is vital and how ordinary people can concretely contribute to the cause by becoming sponsors. Similarly, on LinkedIn, where users usually browse their feed first thing in the morning to catch up with the latest news [10], the charity should opt for posts with longer captions focused on the world’s need for more educated women and aimed at professional women that desire to take action and, hopefully, become SaGG champions.

On Twitter, where characters are limited to 280 and people tend to look for bite-sized news [11], the SaGG Foundation should instead prioritise infographics and short videos, that are easier to digest, and make use of relevant hashtags, especially those related to special events like Women’s International Day (#WomensInternationalDay), prying their ability to reach bigger audiences and increase the chances of being noticed in the so-called Trends section. Likewise, on Instagram, where people usually do not have time to read, eye-catching and brief formats should be preferred [12]. For instance, Reels and Stories could be used to give access to real testimonies and behind-the-scene content, leveraging their ability to offer a full-screen experience and their peculiar features, such as question stickers, in order to catch potential donors and sponsors’ attention and encourage their participation.
